Treasure Runner (CIS*2750)
January 2025

A terminal-based dungeon crawler built with Python and C via ctypes bindings. Features MVC architecture, portal traversal, JSON save/load persistence, ncurses color rendering, and profile tracking.
Treasure Runner is a terminal-based dungeon exploration game that demonstrates systems-level programming concepts through gameplay. The architecture bridges Python and C using ctypes for foreign function interface, with performance-critical dungeon generation running in C and game logic managed by Python.
The MVC architecture separates concerns cleanly: the Model handles dungeon state and entity management, the View uses ncurses for terminal rendering with custom color palettes, and the Controller processes player input and game events.
Features include procedurally generated dungeon maps, portal systems for level traversal, save/load persistence via JSON serialization, player profile tracking with statistics, and a scoring system. The ncurses rendering supports 256-color terminals with smooth screen transitions.
